RE: SEEKING TOW VEHICLE VALUE??

Now that we have sold our travel trailer, DW deemed it time to get rid of our 2006 F-250. I would like to sell it to a private party but determining a price for it has become an problem.. I have used the on line KBB and others, providing the data they requested but have never been given a value of the vehicle.. But what I do get is within hours an endless stream of phone calls from several local dealers offering me a trade in value on a new vehicle from them.. Any ideas where to get a good base price for used vehicles such as mine.. Thanks I use KBB regularly to get updated values for my truck. Never put in e-mail address or phone number. I have always received my valuation.

RE: Need ideas for stabilizer jack pads.

We use Snap Pads Very efficient. Made of rubber and never fall off. Rarely need our old wood pads any more. As we have self levelling, only use them every so often if side-to-side is over 2" of level.

RE: Ram 2500 6.4 gas Towing 5th wheel.

I stand by what I said, because it is true. If it doesn’t conform to accepted ‘standards’ that is nothing to do with me. My 2019 hemi gets about the same MPG towing my 5er as my old 2004 Cummins. I was surprised when it worked out that way, but it did.

RE: Ram 2500 6.4 gas Towing 5th wheel.

10.5mpg? Roflmao If you say so! Every tow trip with the old Cummins and with this 2019 Hemi, I religiously keep track of mileage - not the computer, but by topping up and calculating. On highway and not towing I can often get over 22 with the Hemi. The old Cummins would struggle to get 16. If you doubt me, please fly to Florida and I will give you a demonstration....

Good info. What gearing do you have? 3.73

RE: Tips on how to hook up at an extreme angle?

Martyn suggested, "have a friendly neighbor hitch up to your trailer and pull to a spot where you can hitch up straight." This alternative would also require that the locking plate be removed before hitching up with another hitch. Not so - the locking plate is on the Demco hitch - the pinbox on the trailer is unaltered. That's one of the reasons I bought the Demco over the other slider, as their locking plate is on the pin box. Anyone can pull my trailer.....

RE: Ram 2500 6.4 gas Towing 5th wheel.

I have truck and fith wheel as shown in my signature. It tows/pulls like a dream and half the time you don't know it's back there. Recently completed a trip from Florida to Ontario and back and no issues. 10.5 mpg for the whole round trip. I used to have diesel truck but went with this one for the extra payload capacity for the 5er and due to the price of diesel. I used to get 10mpg towing with my diesel, so I am coming out ahead right now! As to the coil springs - never noticed any difference from the leaf springs in my old 2002 CTD.

RE: Demopolis AL to Gulf State Park

If I was doing the trip I would take the second option. Maybe byways, but less hassle with Interstates etc.

RE: Tips on how to hook up at an extreme angle?

I have a Demco but there is no locking plate, it has the silver guide rails on the hitch. I have pulled them off or backed them all the way off....was pretty easy.....hooked up and then pulled out. If I had them off. I stopped, put them on and rehitched. Only took a few minutes. Without the rails in place, the hitch still works, it just does not "autoslide". If I had the rails backed off, I just slid them over once the trailer was straight and then tightened them. My hitch is a few years old now so the design might be a bit different from the new ones. Mine is the same as this ^^. I would do exactly the same given the circumstances. Just a few bolts to loosen off/remove and the hitch acts like a regular hitch and doesn't slide. The only alternative to this is to have a friendly neighbor hitch up to your trailer and pull to a spot where you can hitch up straight.

RE: Changing AV programs or???

I use the built in Windows Defender and have for years. It has improved steadily, and I have always hated the 'bloatware' and ensuing spam I got from McAfee and Norton. First thing I do with a new computer is remove McAfee!

RE: Gulf State Park

Anybody know what Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores Alabama is like? They don't seem to post any pictures of their campsites on their reservation system. Seems to be a rather large campground. Is it close to the beach? Is it still reality warm there in November? "The average temperature in Gulf Shores in November for a typical day ranges from a high of 70°F (21°C) to a low of 59°F (15°C). Some would describe it as mildly cool with a gentle breeze." I've stayed there in November and it was pretty much as the quote above says. I have a booking for next May - just managed to find it. The place is booked solid as soon as sites become available. One of the hardest places to get into but, IMHO, one of the best. Good luck! :)

RE: Niagara

We stayed at the KOA on the Canadian side a year ago this weekend. It was jam packed and trailers were very close together. Fortunately we only stayed one night there, as we wanted to see the Falls and then leave the following morning. We do overnight stops often in KOAs and, for us, this was the worst experience ever.

RE: What happened?

I clicked on the backup site link and got the error message. However, it says hosted by 000webhost.com. Now, I had my personal website on that host and it recently was closed down after it was taken over by another company. No communication, just shut down. Lucky I had a copy of my website backed up! The main site has no interactive functionality, so it may be going down as well. Who knows?!

RE: Florida State Park Reservation window changes

Snowbirds don’t stay at Fla. state parks, the max length of stay is 14 days. Nothing wrong with giving priority to the people that pay your salary and benefits. Oh, but they do! We camp in a FL State Park at least once a month and there are always snowbirds in many sites. Most say they book for 14 days and then move on to another SP. Many don't mind moving every 2 weeks. Arrived home today from St George Island State Park and at least 50% of plates were from northern states.
